I used to wake up every Monday with a sense of dread, the weight of financial stress and workplace anxiety pressing down on me. But by following these seven steps, I ended my anxiety at work.

When we built our house, there was one fire alarm that had faulty wiring, every month or 2 at a random point it would go off often in the middle of the night,  but it was a false alarm....Waking up to a fire alarm when there is no fire is like being anxious without imminent personal harm. In a similar way, I realized that much of my anxiety was a response to perceived threats, not actual ones. By identifying these false alarms, I could focus on real issues rather than imagined catastrophes.

2. Positive Anxiety

in the book "Only the Paranoid Survive" by Andrew S. Grove, I learned that a certain level of anxiety can be a driving force for positive change. It pushes us to prepare, adapt, and stay vigilant. Instead of letting anxiety paralyze me, I used it as motivation to improve my situation.

3. Conduct a True and Factual Evaluation

I took a step back to assess my circumstances objectively. This meant looking at my finances without panic—calculating my debts, expenses, and income accurately. I did the same with work, listing out my responsibilities and challenges without the cloud of stress distorting the picture.

4. Evaluate Physical and Emotional States

Acknowledging how stress was affecting my body and mind was crucial. I noticed that poor sleep and unhealthy eating were exacerbating my anxiety. By prioritizing sleep, nutrition, and exercise, I strengthened my ability to cope with stress.
